The First Take Film Festival enjoyed great success in its inaugural year of 2007, and again in 2008.  As last year, this year’s film festival is designed to run simultaneously with the week of the Masters, April 8 – 12, 2009. Because of the legendary Masters tournament, our location makes Augusta the perfect place for an arts festival.   During this time, Augusta becomes the central stage where for one week the world’s best athletes, businessmen, and celebrities converge. 

First Take is again poised to showcase Augusta to the international community by offering cutting-edge scripts and movies from independent filmmakers throughout the United States and abroad which will be showcased at the historic Imperial Theater. Last year’s festival included entries from many of the industry’s well known actors and directors, including Susan Sarandon, Sienna Miller, Ben Vereen, Martin Sheen, and James Franco of Spiderman fame.  In addition, the executive director, Gregory Glover, is a local Augusta native who has returned to his roots in order to give back to his community.  The First Take 2007 inaugural festival garnered support from many local establishments and politicians.  The organizers will again utilize a national and local advertising campaign.
